Portfolio

Summary

With a background and degree in graphic design I transitioned to web design over ten years ago. Starting out with notepad, I hand-coded sites for Netscape "back in the day," slicing and dicing images, wrapping font tags around everything and using tables for layout. Thankfully we've moved past those techniques.

Fast-forward to today, I've been a web designer for two Fortune 500 companies, having worked on dozens of sites for state government and the private sector, and now I'm taking on freelance projects on a limited basis. I create attractive, clean designs tailored to the specific needs of small businesses and organizations. I keep up with the latest tools and techniques in the industry, delivering standards-compliant, semantic code focused on usability and accessibility.

A Work in Progress

"The cobbler's children have no shoes."

My freelance portfolio is a little sparse at the moment, especially since it doesn't include anything from my 8+ years at Northrop Grumman, and I've only officially started freelancing this year. My Northrop Grumman work will be showcased on my resume page.

Disclaimer

My career at Northrop Grumman has transitioned over the past few years from web design to web development. It is a subtle distinction but is a very important one. It means that doing web design on the side is no longer a conflict of interest and I have their blessing to forge ahead.
