Snap Fitness is waiving the $50 signup fee for the month of July. The dues are $30/mo, there’s no contract (30 day notice to cancel any time) and you can put your membership on hold up to 3 months. I signed up this morning.

Coming back down. I have reason to believe this is fairly accurate, even though my scale goes nuts every once in a while. One day last week it said I was 339 (if only!). But the the holes in my belt and other …circumstances, seem to validate this reading.
Of course, I’m going on an extended weekend trip this Thursday which means fast food on the road and great (if not healthy) food and booze at the destination, but I’m hoping to focus on the riding as much as possible to stay busy and stay distracted.

Fish Belches
Permalink | June 26, 2007 by John in Of a Personal Nature, Weightloss
So I got a letter from my doctor following up with the lab results from my recent checkup. Everything is normal except my cholesterol. What a shock. He said I get a prescription to control that or try losing weight again (so that means I’ll probably be on the prescription pills in three months when we have a followup). He also suggested fish oil capsules for a variety of issues.
As much as I belch, as much gas as I generate from both ends of my body, I should’ve known that taking fish oil capsules would be a bad idea. It tastes like I just had a tuna sandwich. And yes, I took it with food this morning. I may as well start taking garlic supplements, too, just for variety.
And on the subject of weight

I’ve been watching “Big Medicine” on the TLC. A few things stick in my mind:
- If the 1000 pound guy can lose almost half his weight, gastric bypass surgery and personal trainer notwithstanding, I should be able to lose 50 pounds
- Some of the people on there are no where as big as me but still opt for gastric bypass
- The tons of skin left over after dramatic weight loss is gross. When you sign up for gastric bypass or lap band surgery, chances are you are also signing up for plastic surgery later.

Another good reason to lose weight

Apparently I can be used as a deadly weapon. 300-pound man crushes fan at Shea:
“I didn’t expect a 300-pound human missile to hit me in the back. That doesn’t come up on my list of fears.”
