Another Useful Bit of Info

One of the shorter podcasts I subscribe to is Legal Lad. This week’s topic covered Traffic Signs Posted on Private Property. This, in particular, got my attention (emphasis mine):

Some states, including Massachusetts, Maine and Montana have specific laws that all traffic and motor vehicle laws apply on public property, as well as any private property that is generally open to the public. So, a stop sign posted in a mall parking lot would be enforceable by the police, but a stop sign posted at the end of a private driveway might not be.

There Should Be A Law

Tom Leykis and Adam Carolla should not be allowed to go on vacation during the same week. It’s not right. It’s not fair. I can only take so much of Dave Ramsey and Leo Laporte. I scoured the iTunes store last night and right now I’m listening to a podcast about Halo 3 from Bungie, the company who developed the franchise.

Favorite Podcast of 2006

Since I became addicted to podcasts (listening - god forbid I should start recording) I tend to get fanatical about listening to one in particular each year. Oh sure, I have dozens I listen to with topics as varied as Photoshop Tips, Superman, Marvel comics, Battlestar Galactica (producer’s commentary), web design and more. But it seems that one captivates me more than the others, and these favs tend to run in annual cycles.

In 2005 it was the Dave Ramsey Show. In a radical departure, 2006 was the year of the Tom Leykis Show (mildly NSFW). The two could not be more different if they tried (and I’m sure if they met they would share an intense mutual disgust).

Interestingly enough, I don’t “believe in” or follow everything that either hosts say or do. But both are certainly entertaining in their own way, and that’s primarily why they do what they do (in that being entertaining is the best way to make money).

Close runner-ups are the Penn Jillette show, the show with Ze Frank and the Adam Carolla show. These pod/vid-casts are staples in my daily podcast routine.
