Shelby Update

Today I registered ($65) and insured ($30/mo.) the Dakota, and purchased a new battery ($90 plus core). I just got regular license plates. I’m not going to spend anymore on this thing than I have to until I know it’s going to fly. Next week: the tranny shop.
Update: It runs. It’s ready to go. Woo hoo! I fiddled around inside and it appears everything works except the A/C, and hopefully that’s just a freon charge away.
Update 2: It’s going to Helena Transmission Monday morning. Hopefully that won’t cost a fortune. (Hopes dashed: should cost around $1600, almost as much as I paid for the truck: $1800)
Update 3: Pictures!
One Line Review of THE LOVE GURU

Because THE LOVE GURU Won The Hearts Of Critics And Movie Goers!! Here Comes AUSTIN POWERS 4 - A Dr. Evil Movie??. I don’t really care about a fourth Austin Powers movie, even if centered on Dr. Evil and his son Scott Evil, I just love this line about The Love Guru, which I skipped at the theater:
“The Love Guru” is downright antifunny, an experience that makes you wonder if you will ever laugh again. - A. O. Scott, The New York Times

Update
OH CRAP: I WAS HAD. I should always check Snopes and Wikipedia before I post.
The Landover Baptist Church is a fictional Baptist church based in the fictional town of Freehold, Iowa. The Landover Baptist web site and its associated Landoverbaptist.net Forum are a parody of fundamentalist Christianity and the Religious Right in the United States, and of Westboro Baptist Church in particular.
I will do penance and wallow in gullible shame, leaving my original post after the jump…

‘Extreme Makeover’ house faces foreclosure:
LAKE CITY, Ga. (AP) - More than 1,800 people showed up to help ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” team demolish a family’s decrepit home and replace it with a sparkling, four-bedroom mini-mansion in 2005.
Three years later, the reality TV show’s most ambitious project at the time has become the latest victim of the foreclosure crisis.
After the Harper family used the two-story home as collateral for a $450,000 loan, it’s set to go to auction on the steps of the Clayton County Courthouse Aug. 5. The couple did not return phone calls Monday, but told WSB-TV they received the loan for a construction business that failed.
I hope no one bails them out this time.
The Road Beckons

I’m going through withdrawals. I’ve finished my big planned trips for the year. I’ve gone on three trips in less than a year totaling about 7800 miles. I want to hit the road again, but I can’t afford it and I have 4 hours of vacation left. ::sigh::
It’s probably all for the better though. I need to put a new rear tire on my bike and I’m thinking about buying a new drive belt to try to cure the squeaking the current one is doing. It also wouldn’t be bad to get the new paint job done and other accessories installed (headlight, turn signals, etc.).
I dunno, just needed to whine for a minute. The road beckons…
