“Nothing is sacred. Everything is permitted.”

Wow. We Suck.

And by “we” I mean “you.”

The BEAST 50 Most Loathsome People in America, 2007

9. You

Charges: You believe in freedom of speech, until someone says something that offends you. You suddenly give a damn about border integrity, because the automated voice system at your pharmacy asked you to press 9 for Spanish. You cling to every scrap of bullshit you can find to support your ludicrous belief system, and reject all empirical evidence to the contrary. You know the difference between patriotism and nationalism — it’s nationalism when foreigners do it. You hate anyone who seems smarter than you.

I wasn’t paying attention

Apparently there’s an anti-god message to The Golden Compass. According to the Wikipedia page for “Northern Lights”, the novel on which the movie is based (emphasis mine):

In a 2003 interview, Philip Pullman said, “I’ve been surprised by how little criticism I’ve got. Harry Potter’s been taking all the flak. I’m a great fan of J.K. Rowling, but the people - mainly from America’s Bible Belt - who complain that Harry Potter promotes Satanism or witchcraft obviously haven’t got enough in their lives. Meanwhile, I’ve been flying under the radar, saying things that are far more subversive than anything poor old Harry has said. My books are about killing God.

Wow. I totally slept through that movie…

Muslims Out of Australia!

Right on! This was actually sent to me in an e-mail from my Dad, and I’m in the habit of checking Snopes.com on anything he sends me. Wonder of wonders, this one is true!

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello , seen as heir apparent to Howard , hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. “If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you”, he said on National Television.

“I’d be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false. If you can’t agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that’s a better option”, Costello said.

Props to the Aussies for standing up for their culture and country, and not bowing to the rampant political correctness that has all but destroyed OUR culture.

Internet Justice

No charges have been filed, but one could say the hive mind that is the intarweb is exacting a measure of justice: lori drew family, psychos who pushed a teenager to suicide:

these rotten ***holes helped their daughter set up a fake myspace account, to draw in a neighbor girl. they pretended to be a boy that was interested in the girl. they led poor megan meier on, then posted nasty crap about her. this poor child was so devastated by the rejection that she hanged herself. shame on the drew family, you all can rot in **** .

Read through some of the comments. People are just hounding this family, and rightly so. Kevin Smith recently posted (in his trademark profane style) about this situation. I found out about the RottenNeighbor.com site via the Tech Guy podcast.
