More than just a Band aid?

My BMI is off the charts and I probably do qualify for a gastric bypass or lapband, but I just can’t bring myself to go under the knife.
Lapband:

Gastric Bypass (aka, hack-and-slash):

Reconsidering Star Wars IV in the light of I-III
“Wherever 3PO goes, being as loud and obvious as he always is, his unobtrusive little counterpart goes with him. 3PO is R2’s front man. Wherever they land, R2 is passing messages between rebel sympathizers and sizing up governments as potential rebel recruits - both by personal contact and by hacking into their networks.”
“Chewie’s first problem is what is happening between Luke and Leia. With a psychic link they can feel but don’t understand, thrown together in a life-or-death escape, they are looking at each other with a sparky intensity that Chewie gradually recognises as Romantic Tension. He’s no expert on human relationships but Chewie is fairly sure that that’s Wrong, so he does the only thing he can under the circumstances - he throws Han at her.”
It’s all about Chewie and Artoo. Wow. Nice work.

2007 Movies Watched List
Permalink | by John in Entertainment
I put up my usual list of movies I’m interested for ‘07 in over on my TaDa list account. Some, like Epic Movie and Wild Hogs, I’m only marginally interested in. Others, like Spiderman 3 and Pirates 3, I’m chomping at the bit to see. Unlike past years, right now I’m too lazy to link up the items to their websites. Maybe later.
UPDATE: Copied the list here and updated for archival purposes, after the jump.

Peenote

I’ve been looking for a different angle or issue or anecdote to post about the announcements during the MacWorld keynote address yesterday, without jumping on the ‘OMFG-the-iPhone-is-so-kewl’ bandwagon. Yes, the iPhone is totally bitchin’, I just have to go a different way. Here it is:
- Peenote
- “A Steve Jobs keynote that is so highly anticipated that people will pee their pants when the announcements are made.”
Heck, the only apple product I have is my new iPod and I pee’d a little reading a live blog of the address. Unfortunately, or fortunately because of the price, I can’t get one because we don’t have Cingular in Montana. However, it appears to be a very impressive piece of technology, one I’d likely purchase were I to move to a town with Cingular, despite the well-documented customer-service nightmare that is Cingular.
Update: Upon further consideration, the best thing about the iPhone is how it will hopefully force the other cellphone makers to up their game. One commentator mentioned how great the iPhone is for design in general. I can only hope he’s right and we see the same trickle-down design that we did with the iMac and iPod.
