Healthy Tips, Tricks, Recipes

Okay, I keep hearing from people that they read my blog all the time, and as far as I can tell you’re all healthy. Well here’s your chance to sound off. Tell me about your habits, tips, tricks, favorite foods, recipes, etc. for eating and saying healthy. I reserve the right to delete comments that say something to the effect of, “Eat less, exercise more.” Those get filed in a bucket that’s labeled “DUH.”

Some OTHER kind of ‘pid

There were only a couple questions that completely baffled me (the rap song question is one). There were a few that I knew were wrong as soon as I click the button, but the smartorstoopid test is timed and there’s no going back (and I’m not retaking it).

Evaluating Sugar-Free Syrups
Permalink | January 24, 2007 by John in Uncategorized
So one of the things I’m doing to try and lose weight is to switch from mochas to lattes with sugar-free syrups (both decaf, naturally). It seems like most SFS’s are powered by Splenda rather than Nutrasweet these days. Both have a distinct after-taste and is probably a matter of personal preference. I can’t stand Nutrasweet. Sometimes Splenda seems to “blend in” with some flavors better than others.
So I thought, again to use this blog as a tool to keep my “eye on the (weightloss) prize” so to speak, I’d rate the different SFS flavors as I try them. Some I won’t be trying again. Let’s use the basic 5 star rating system. I’m too lazy to implement CSS for this (maybe later), so I’ll just use asterisks. Under three stars means I probably won’t have it again. Three stars means I probably will only try it again if I’m bored with the 4 and 5 star flavors:
- Irish Cream ***
- Caramel **
- English Toffee ****
- Raspberry ****
Note: I’m 80% certain that these are all DaVinci brand syrups.

Not a Resolution, but Hopefully Resolute
Permalink | January 22, 2007 by John in KevinSmith, ScottAdams, Weigh-in, Weightloss
Long ago I gave up New Year’s Resolutions. In fact I’ve kept my last resolution, made a few years ago: Make no more New Years Resolutions. They are inherently self-defeating and doomed to failure. So no grandiose announcements about a major life change or even a minor one. It’s simple.
I have to lose weight. Obviously this has been on my mind lately judging from my post below about lapband surgery.
