Keep your passwords safe at public computers: “The idea is, for each character of your password you type, you also type several random characters in another field in your browser.”
While this method is good for public computers, it would also work if you think your roommate/GF/BF/spouse/family might be trying to snoop through your e-mail accounts. Of course, you may not care if you have nothing to hide. But a lot of people DO have something to hide from their S.O.

Yeah, I too, tried to get an Xbox 360 for $100 on Thanksgiving day. I had the page queued up, hit reload at 11:00AM PST, and it took several minutes for the page reload. The results were predictable:

“The effort seemed futile. Amazon was going to sell 1,000 Xbox 360 Core Systems for $100.00 via Amazon.com, starting at 2PM EST on Thanksgiving Day. Surely there was no way we’d get one - I was right.
“Eliza had pointed out that she wanted to try anyways and she had the page all loaded up to fire an order away the moment “the gates” were open. Sure enough, Amazon.com was brought to it’s knees during an onslaught that an Amazon spokesman described as “dramatically more traffic than we anticipated.”.
“‘Amazon sold out of Xbox 360 Core systems in 29 seconds. Not 30, no no - 29 seconds.’”

I think mobile17 is the current incarnation of the service I used to send the Munsters and Mission Impossible themes to my phone as ringtones. I haven’t tried it recently but I told someone I would post it here again if I found it. So, there ya go.
