Calling all passive-aggressives on Ask MetaFilter: “As the holiday season is upon us, I’ve been thinking of the ultimate ‘[screw] you’ gift: the one that keeps on giving anguish and annoyance. Bullshit Grinder - Believe it or not, I actually paid money to build one of these in college (Montana State University in ‘86). Besides the school loan it’s the only thing I have left to show for my time there. We made a bunch of the BS Grinders for a materials class in the Department of Industrial Arts. The lesson was mass production. The class was required for an art degree. I shit you not.

Following up this post, Signs of the Apocalypse, 27th in a Series (gratuitous self-link), we’ve gone from a high of 75° to a high of -5° in exactly three weeks. The math is easy on that differential. That kind of drop is not unheard of, but it sure felt quick. As I type this at 11:09PM it’s -11°. “Thankfully,” the high on Thursday should be freezing.
