“When I was Nine” - he nails it for me, with the exception that I was 10 (and I can’t say that I’ve ever quite cried at a Star Wars movie). Yes, I too have the “Story of Star Wars” LP. ::sigh:: I might have to go borrow a turntable now…

This is probably one of the more interesting takes on the Star Wars universe since Randall’s rant in “Clerks” about the destruction of the second Deathstar in Return of the Jedi: The public choice economics of Star Wars: A Straussian reading.

Something has bothered me about this whole, “Bringing balance back to the Force,” thing since the first prequel. There are scores of Jedi. There are (usually, only) two Sith. Seems to me from and Eastern yin-yang point of view, the side of the Force that is causing the imbalance is the “good” side. The way to bring it into balance is to increase the number of Sith to match the number of Jedi or, as happens in the ROTS (I don’t think I’m spoiling it for anyone) destroy most of the Jedi. So the chosen one does, indeed, bring balance back to the Force.

There’s finally a decent theater in Helena, the Cinemark 8. Tonight I got a sneak preview thanks to Gerry and Stacy (the former winning tickets to a free movie two nights before the grand opening). We’ve been waiting for a decent theater in this town for many years and first impressions are good.

Oh, the free movie we chose was “Be Cool.” It was okay. Not as good as the first movie, “Get Shorty,” but not bad.

Designing the Future: “NEWSWEEK talks to a leading ecological architect whose goal is nothing less than eliminating waste and pollution.” Now this is a “greenie” I can get behind. A high-tech greenie.
